    Description

This Moro Barong sword comes from a collection of vintage blades owned by a now retired Professor of Biology at Western Washington University. He had a large estate of antiques, in which this antique sword and others to be auctioned off originated.
The handle on this piece appears to be made of carved wood and thread. The blade is still firmly attached and does not  5.5 inches long, and the blade is 18.5 inches. For a total of just under 2 feet in length. The widest part of Blade is just under 2.5 inches in width.
This sword design, in particular, commonly known as a Moro Barong Sword, features a single blade that resembles the shape of a leaf. With this sword, unlike most Moro Barong swords, it features multiple curves along the blade. We are unsure if this is part of the design and that this is a different kind of Filipino sword or if it is damage that changed the shape of this blade. ( see photos for details) It also features a unique handle shape. (See photos).  This Moro Barong sword is believed to have originated from The Phillipines. Remarkably, this sword still has its sheath with it. The sheath is not in the best condition but still functions to hold the blade.
The retired professor who owns this collection owns many other antiques and collectibles originating from and relating to the US and Phillipines war and other historical events.
