    Description

National Triolian Mandolin. Early 1930 model and first year of the Walnut finish. Steel body.
    Serial # 245
For a 92 year old mandolin, condition on this one could be good to very good cosmetically. Structurally and tonally great.
All original. No cracks, breaks or dents anywhere in body or neck. Original cone sounds great and
is loud, while having that great resonance. No buzzing at all. Original biscuit and saddle in great condition as well. Original tailpiece has been repaired at some point, but is solid. Not uncommon on these tailpieces.
This mandolin was lovingly played, with honest play wear on it. Does have some fretwear. Neck has just slight relief, neck joint is solid. They set these up to play differently 90 years ago than they do now. So it plays good on the lower register and action is higher up on the neck. You could do a neck reset on this fairly easily. Plenty of saddle for string slots to be filed for lower action. Whatever your playing preference is. Paint has worn off, and misc.bumps and wear on the edges. Always great seeing a straight, unmolested and original National. It's a good collector piece, but it certainly wants to be played. Selling as is, but think you'll be very happy with this one. Comes with the OHSC, which is surprisingly in great condition considering. It suits its purpose and does its job very well. Feel free to give me a shout with any questions about it. Certainly open to fair offers. Thanks!
